Volunteers are permitted to wear their own shirt as long as it is a KSU-branded polo or t-shirt. Groups may wear hats or buttons (that the groups provide themselves) identifying their group affiliation as well if they wish. We also recommend volunteers wear pants/skirts/shorts, comfortable shoes, sunblock, a hat and sunglasses.

After check-in, volunteers will be directed to their assigned work area. At the assigned area, volunteers will report to a Team Captain who will provide further guidance and instructions.

  • A. Please expect to park some distance from your volunteer location. All residential parking areas on both campuses will be utilized for Move-In and reserved for students and their families who are supporting their move-in experience.  We are asking volunteers to park at the following locations to check in for their shift at the campus' Talon One Service Center and then walk to the assigned move in area afterwards.

  • A. Snacks and water will be provided to volunteers during their shift. Locations will be provided at volunteer check-in.

  • A. Most of our volunteers help students move their belongings into their rooms. Move-in volunteers also greet students and families, help unload vehicles, answer questions and provide support as needed. If you'd like to help but can't carry items, let us know when you receive your Move-In Team Volunteer Information Form. Move-In is all about creating a great welcome experience for our students though so your enthusiasm, smiles, and Owl spirit are more helpful than anything!

  • A. Volunteers need to be familiar with resources that our students, especially those entering their first year at KSU need to know (e.g. - locations of key campus offices, WOW schedule, First-Year Convocation, key dates and deadline, etc.). We will be asked a wide variety of questions. The staff in the buildings are good resources if you are unsure of an answer.

  • A. We want to provide the best experience possible for our students while ensuring a smooth move-in process. While we all try our best, issues will still arise. Common issues include broken items, guests not feeling well, guests with a customer service issue, etc. Our staff are ready to assist as needed. Most issues can be resolved by our community staff. If an issue arises during your shift, please see a Housing and Residence Life staff member.
